ANIME

Anime is Japanese animation.  It is distinguishable from U.S. animation in two ways:

• The art quality is incomparably better. 
• It is not aimed just at kids.

In fact, you can consider anime to be the Japanese equivalent of the U.S. movie industry.  All the genres are there - action, adventure, comedy, romance, family, horror, mystery, etc.
